Dr. Seung-Beom Hong is head of Korean Agricultural Culture Collection (KACC) in National Institute of Agricultural Science. He have worked in KACC as fungal curator since 1995. His work is focused on three themes: 1) Management of fungal culture collection (KACC holds 13,633 fungal strains composed of 3,181 species at 2022), 2) Isolation, collection and utilization of fungi on fermented foods such as soybean fermented products and alcoholic beverage, 3) Taxonomy of Aspergillus, especially section Fumigati, Flavi and Nigri. He obtained his Ph.D. as polyphasic taxonomy of Aspergillus section Fumigati, coworking with Dr. Robert Samson in WI. He is (scientific) editor of ‘Mycobiology’ and ‘Journal of Mycology and Infection’. He is also member of International Commission on Food Mycology (ICFM), and the International Commission on Penicillium and Aspergillus (ICPA).
