Prof. Dr. Ir. Endang Sutriswati Rahayu MS, is lecturer at Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta Indonesia, since 1980. She graduated in Agricultural Technology in 1979, had her Master in Food Science and Technology of Universitas Gadjah Mada, in 1985 and her PhD in Agricultural Chemistry at The University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1991. Her major field is food microbiology. Her research works and publications are mainly related to lactic acid bacteria, probiotics, gut microbiota, and food safety. She belongs to several professional associations, such as of Indonesian Society of Microbiology (PERMI), Indonesian Society for Food Technologist (PATPI), Communication Forum for Indonesian Culture Collection Curators (FORKOMIKRO), Word Federation for Culture Collection (WFCC), Indonesian Society for Lactic Acid Bacteria and Gut Microbiota (ISLAB-GM, as a chairman), Asian Federation of Society for Lactic Acid Bacteria (AFSLAB, as a Chairman, 2017 to 2021), and member of International Commission on Food Mycology (ICFM).
