Dr Frisvad is full professor of Industrial Mycology, Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Denmark. Member of the International Commission of Food Mycology (ICFM) and International Commission of Penicillium and Aspergillus (ICPA). He (co-)authored >375 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 80 international book chapters with peer or editorial review, main or co-editor of 5 books and co-author of three books, 3 patents. His major interest is in biodiversity, biosystematics, ecology (species-specific association to substrates), ecophysiology, and phylogeny of the major genera of filamentous fungi, Penicillium, Aspergillus and Talaromyces. He also does research in studies of the exo-metabolome and the exo-interactome, which are respectively secreted metabolites from microorganisms and the chemical communication between species. In addition, he also works on projects where he studies mycotoxins and moulds, especially from Penicillium and Aspergillus, with a view to preventing toxin formation in food, indoor climate and biotechnological products.
